Welcome to AAEVT

Animal Care Technologies has partnered with AAEVT to deliver foundational online courses for Equine Veterinary Technicians and Assistants. The ACT Online Equine Certification Program is designed as a training and educational program for the equine technician, assistant or other support staff in the practice. The courses are varied from basic to advanced and are geared to give an overview of the skills and knowledge needed to work in an equine practice or in the equine veterinary industry. The program consists of 3 courses each composed of 9-10 units and all delivered 100% online.

About the Program

To provide training – basic to advance – to those employed by the equine practitioner, those who are enrolled in an AVMA Accredited Program of Veterinary Technology, and those in the equine veterinary profession. To provide education in a variety of essential topics and skill sets in order to better equip a technician, assistant, receptionist, practice manager or other support staff to contribute and add value to an equine practice, as well as assist a veterinarian in emergency as well as daily routine work.
  • The program will consist of a series of areas of study, or modules, which will be completed on line utilizing webinars, short videos, resources such as web sites or additional documents to research, and possibly a series of quizzes.
  • These online modules will be self –paced.
  • There will also be a list of skills that we feel are essential to be familiar with in the equine veterinary practice, which will be signed off on by a supervising DVM or mentor.
  • In addition there is a requirement to attend an AAEVT CE meeting where there is a wet lab, so that we may assess horsemanship skills, and verify that the applicant attends CE in the profession and realizes the value of that endeavor.
  • The AAEVT’s Equine Manual for Veterinary Technicians will be a required reference book.
  • A Certificate of Completion will be sent upon completion of each Module, as well as a Certificate of Completion of the Program.
  • There will also be an option to take various individual modules without going through the entire program.
